When Little League Baseball added the softball divisions for girls, Florida was first in line for the new programs. Tampa, Florida took the first Little League Softball World Series championship in 1974
Since 1948 Florida has won many titles and championships. Florida has won the world series 52 (35-softball) times in all age divisions.
Since their inception, the Challenger division and the Urban Initiative program have been embraced by Florida. Florida plays host to both the Challenger and Urban Initiative Jamboree’s annually.
In 2020, Florida welcomed on board a new DA.
In 2021, the District Administrators of Florida will host the Senior Baseball Southeast Regional Tournament, in Safety Harbor, FL.
Over the years many Florida District Administrator’s have been presented awards from Little League Baseball and other supporting organizations. Just recently, Gary Kay, of Florida District 12, was presented the Little League President’s Award for his exceptional service to the program.
Florida District Administrators continue to be a driving force in Little League Baseball. Currently, Florida DA’s are represented in the Little League Board of Directors, the Southeast Region Advisory Board, the Friends of the Southeast Region Board, and numerous other bodies within Little League Baseball.
